URL stands for "Uniform Resource Locator".


URL is:-
  • the address of a specific Web site or file on the Internet
  • it cannot have spaces or certain other characters
  • uses forward slashes to denote different directories
  • can be classified as Uniform Resource Identifier(URI)
  • used to identify a physical IP (Internet Protocol) address on the Internet
  • allow user to easily identify and remember an address on World Wide Web
